School of Weaving Kit - s09e01 Shadow Weave, Further Explorations - 8 shaft

Things we will learn:

• That we can put graphic first, then shadow weave second, for a more contemporary look.
• A review of traditional shadow weave threading where we have eight pattern blocks on 8 shafts.
• When we want to float a motif on a background on 8 shafts we reduce the number of blocks to four, with the exceptions being symmetry.
• That we can design motifs floating on a background of shadow weave using one block for the background and three blocks for the pattern.
• That we can overlay basket weave onto shadow weave for more visual impact, larger motifs, and a more drapey twill- like fabric.
