This is a traditional European style basket used for centuries as a household storage basket or used as a garden or agricultural harvest basket. They are referred to as Rib Baskets or Frame Baskets referring to the construction method of inserting ribs to create the shape and essentially forming a warp to weave back and forth over. There are many variations of this basket and a wide variety of materials have been used to make them. This traditional shape has a round handle and a round rim made with wood hoops. We are using reed β from the rattan vine, seagrass and jute threads. We hope you enjoy weaving it and can imagine it being very handy to store your yarns or tools in the your studio or fruit in the kitchen.
