School of Weaving Kit - s04e03 Small Threadings Twill Gamp

We are making the first of many gamps this year - this one is all about small twill threadings. In episodes to come we will use these threadings as shapes and we’ll blow them up and make them bigger - so much fun, so much to learn!

Things we will learn:

• How to weave tromp as writ (TAW)

• Become familiar with the shapes of threadings

• How to treadle rose fashion (inverted)

• How to start your treadling on a different treadle

• Blending twill treadlings with plain weave or basket weave

• Overlaying colour and weave on TAW

Level of Difficulty: Advanced Beginner
Weave structure: 2/2 twill
Material: 8/4 cotton
Each kit makes: samples approx. 15" wide

Loom requirements:

• Shafts: 4
• Reed: 10 dent
• EPI: 12
• Weaving width: 13"
• Finished Dimensions: samples 13" wide, however long you'd like to make them.
