Every pattern in our studio seems to have a story that always involves a series of weavers and events.
Many years ago I was teaching a workshop on Whidbey Island and afterwards the lovely Kate McKibben designed a beautiful silk scarf based on what she had learned. Linda Knowles then took that idea, changed it a tad and interpreted it in 2 different yarns. These scarves are woven with a 16/2 bamboo warp and a Freya (merino/silk) yarn in the weft. So beautifully done! They have such a lovely hand and drape.
When you have a beautiful block profile you can interpret it in many different yarns to achieve completely different fabrics. Linda then took this profile and wove it in 2/8 cotton and cotton boucle to create beautifully absorbent kitchen towels.
