Description
Tea Towel Time with Jane kit is by far our most popular tea towel kit, so we decided to recreate it in a new colourway.
These towels are a fantastic opportunity to explore some of the ways you can layer graphic and different weave structures onto the same warp.
These colourful towels were woven during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the course of 3 weeks these towels were woven live on FB and during that time a fun, creative, caring community was formed.
I wanted to weave towels in plain weave, 2/2 twill and turned twill so decided to thread the warp on 8 shafts. For all you 4 shaft weavers out there…don’t fear because 10 of the 12 towels were woven on 4 shafts…but there is a little extra for those weavers who have 8. The first 4 towels are woven in plain weave sett at 18 EPI. After those towels were woven I cut off the warp and re-sleyed it closer together at 20 EPI and wove another 6 towels using a 2/2 twill tie-up. At the end I used all 8 shafts and wove 2 towels in turned twill. This pattern provides a great canvas to explore graphic, colour and structure….the A,B,C’s of weaving.
