For some reason having trouble with tension on my Spring Loom. Releasing the brake barely moves my warp forward. The toggle on the back beam is not engaged, I’ve fiddled with the screw on the brake and also tension on the floating breast beam but can’t get a better result. Can you tell me where I’m going wrong? Am about to start a Rep Weave so not looking forward to getting up and moving the back beam manually. Also looking for black mop cotton. Have you got some in now.

It sounds like the brake disc is dirty. That happens over time as dust and grime get under the cable. Unscrew the whorled nut right off the screw hooky thingme (technical term) and unwrap the cable. You can clean the disc off with a damp cloth and a little soap if you need it, make sure it is dry. Then you could take a bar of soap and run it around the disk where the cable will go and then re-install the cable. I’m pretty sure that is all that could be happening. Cleaning and a little lubrication work wonders.
