Thanks for the link Sandra. Should have thought of doing that myself. I clearly wasn’t thinking. I’ve just got so used to the whole thing coming via an email rather than just a notification of arrival . It’s there in all it’s glory. I’m sure I shall love it. Thanks again.August 2, 2018 at 2:39 pm in reply to: Season 2: Episode 8 – Muted Colour Gamp on Natural Ground #47013
I haven’t yet received this episode. Got the notification on Tuesday that it would be out Thursday but sadly nothing has yet arrived. I watch all the episodes on my iPad and haven’t had any problems up to now in receiving Jane’s emails. Hope I’m just being impatient.
Hi Ginette, can’t tell you wt I did but t’s working fine now. Thanks for your help.
Hello, Great to find the new episode but is there any reason why I’m being asked to sign in to Vimeo to watch it? .
Hope I’m in the right place to thank you so much for the closed captions . They make it so much easier for me to be sure I’ve heard Jane correctly. I still know what’s happening even if I’m having to share the room with other people and their noise. The captions are brilliant.
I can’t find any other comments on them so hope the above will encourage you to continue with them! Thanks again.
This gamp was fascinating to weave, seeing what delicate patterns were going to emerge and how they changed their look with a change of colour. I wove the first 3 gamps at 18 then took the warp down to 12. I used a fine ish dark blue flecked wool with a lighter blue boucle. I was really pleased with the finished article ( table runner). Finally chose a small patterned square at 16 which will form part of a banner to advertise our weaving group’s new name when we have our local exhibition next month.April 26, 2018 at 12:42 am in reply to: Season 2, Episode 2 – More on Division of Space & the Asymmetry Sample #43265
If your comments were directed at my photo post Jane, thank you. I was worried after seeing other samples that it was all too bright.
Would it be possible to ask that if contributors to the forum are responding to particular individuals they make sure to include the individual’s name, as comments and responses are often separated by new or unrelated comments (because of the time) and it’s not so easy to follow a conversation? Clicked on the wrong button and the photo was up without any text.
I really enjoyed the mix of Fibonnacci, repetitive sequences, colour changing and sett opening. My favourite was the gentler, smoother and softer 12sett fabric on the left of my photo. I think it’ll make a great hand towel. Unfortunately my stash, or lack of it, let me down so I had a mix of yarns from the very beginning. Loved using boucle, first time.April 20, 2018 at 2:21 pm in reply to: Season 2, Episode 2 – More on Division of Space & the Asymmetry Sample #43040
Hi Jane. Sorry but I am completely lost by your explanation of using the lease sticks as a solution for sorting the middle 8 warp section of the gamp. Please can you help. No doubt I’ve misunderstood but can’t see where.
Ah yes, I remember ‘introductions’. It would be great if Alastair could work some of his magic. Thanks for spending time on my query.
I was having a trawl through the members to see how many European weavers were on the list. I joined from the UK in January 2017. You seem to have lost my comment and those of several others!! I can’t get beyond page 6! Those joining between Jan and April 2017 were there last year I’m sure.January 31, 2018 at 6:09 am in reply to: Tell us what you think about Season 1: Episode 9: Weaving a Mohair Blankie #39452
I purposely missed out on the mohair blankie but loved making Grant’s Shetland. It’s off the loom and awaiting finishing because I couldn’t wait to try the mohair scarf.
I was delighted by how Jane’s warping instructions allowed things to go so smoothly. I chose to warp up a Louet Kombo 16 but thought I might regret the small size. However, the shed was brilliant so very little fluff catching and it was finished with a wash and brush up in a couple of days. Was really pleased with it. Thanks Jane. I might give the blanket a try when finances have recovered from Christmas but by the look of things I might be too involved in the new year plans to be able to look backwards!
One question: can you give me an idea of how wide we might be going with the samples this year so I can, hopefully, choose a suitable loom at our workshop. I have a 27″ ‘Jane’ at home.
Thanks for such an exciting, challenging and interesting start to the year.January 18, 2018 at 2:49 am in reply to: Thoughts on 2.1.1 – Intro to Season 2, our one and only guild meeting :) #156912
I have paid my subs but am still being told by Vimeo that I can’t watch the new episode. I have signed up for Vimeo and it recognises me on its site but it still won’t give me permission. Hope you can help. ThanksJanuary 18, 2018 at 2:30 am in reply to: Thoughts on 2.1.1 – Intro to Season 2, our one and only guild meeting :) #156911
I have signed up to Vimeo and already have receipt for this year’s payment but it’s still saying I don’t have permission. Can you help please. Only thing I can think of is time difference ( uk) but can’t think how.
