      Hi Pat

There should be a pawl on both the warp beam and the cloth beam on the Jane table loom. The pawl would lock into the ratchet on the beam. I have enclosed a photo (my loom is folded up but you can see the pawl and ratchet). If you have the pawl and ratchet but it is not locking in the direction you need is it possible the warp is being wound on the wrong way? It has been a little while since I have warped my Jane loom so I am trying to remember how the warp winds on!

Absolutely – it won’t affect your project’s outcome. Don’t worry about it. I have often messed up a few times during sleying and it doesn’t make a difference. Now if you had sleyed 2-2-2 for a couple of inches it would show, but a mess-up in sleying 1 thread 2 or 3 times across the warp won’t matter.

This is a good question – I’d like to know too!

I have some Maurice Brassard 8/2 yarn in my stash. Is that the brand that is in your kits for the Color and Design projects?

Oops – just re-read the instructions and I see that it is 2/30 silk>

I would like to make the collapsible scarf featured in episode 10. I printed the pdf directions and am wondering what type of silk should be used with the Zepher. Is it the 30/2 Bombyx silk or the 20/2 Tussah silk?

Thank you for your reply about the length of the scarves you weave and thank you for posting the pattern for the collapsible scarf in the pdfs for episode 10!

I have learned so much this year! Your videos are so instructive and you have such a charming teaching manner that they are fun to watch too. I am looking forward to next year’s classes!

                      I have 2 questions…

I just LOVE that beautiful collapse scarf that you showed us in episode 10. It has gone on my list of future projects. I always seem to have a problem deciding how long to make a scarf – it’s either too long or too short. Your scarf’s length seems just right. Can you tell me how long you made it?

Is there any chance you can change the color of the heading topics in the online forum. My “older” eyes have a hard time seeing that light pink color, even with my glasses.

I am so glad I subscribed to the Online Guild. Even though I have been weaving for 20+ years I have learned a lot in just the first 4 episodes. This latest one about sett reinforced my previous observation that sett largely depends on what you want your finished product to look like. Your explanation was very clear and helpful. I look forward to all the episodes to come!

This may sound like a silly question but I can’t help noticing the great clothes you wear in your videos, Jane. I especially liked the dress and long vest you wore in episode 1.  Your clothes look so comfortable. I have been looking for clothes that are comfortable, age appropriate and stylish ( you and I are about the same age). I would love to know where you get your clothes that you wear in the videos. Would you care to divulge!?!

                          Hi

My name is Nina and I live in Indianapolis, Indiana. I have been weaving “on and off” for about 30 years and with each year I feel there is still so much more to learn. I am fortunate in that there are actually a couple of weaving/fiber shops in this area and that I belong to an active weaving guild, Weaving Indiana. I have also been able to attend Convergence a couple of times and the Midwest Weavers Conference  a few times (which is being held here in Indianapolis this year – Yay!). I would love to attend one of Jane’s workshops some day but in the meantime I am so glad she is providing these online courses. I loved the first lesson and am online this morning waiting for the 2nd lesson to post!

I have a Louet Hollandia loom and a David loom and have been dabbling into tapestry so just bought a little Mirrix tapestry loom. (What can I say – I am a loom enthusiast).

It is nice to be able to meet everyone on this online forum!
