Hi. I will be warping and weaving this on my 8 shaft, 10 treadle, countermarch loom.  I have difficulty changing my tie-ups during a project because the woven cloth interferes with my ability to see the tie-up cords as well as makes it much more difficult to get my body and arms in a position to change the tie-ups.  Any suggestions?  I could always cut off the woven fabric and change the tie-ups  then, but thought there might be a way to take advantage of the additional treadles and shafts.  ( I have already started winding the 6 1/2 yard warp)

        thanks,  Joan

Hi, I don’t know if anyone else caught this, but when I looked at the kit for this episode, the instructions indicate that you need a 12 dent reed for these towels.  On the handouts it indicates that a 10 dent reed should be used

          Thanks. Joan

Hi – Every time I follow a patten with different warping sections, my threads are backwards.  I thread the heddles from right to left and my pattern indicates that I should be starting from the left- at least if I want everything to work out.  I first saw this problem when threading the color and weave gamps. At that time, I thought that I had made mistakes in counting my warp threads as I wound on.  Today, is the 3rd or maybe 4th time that I’ve run into this and now realize that somehow, I’m just backwards.  I use a warping mill and tie my cross carefully. Wind my warp onto the back beam, go to thread the heddles and voila, it’s all backwards.   Any ideas how this happens or what I can do to solve this problem?  For today, I plan to reverse the pattern and start with the last threading section and work my way forward. but I know there has to be a better solution.

            thanks. joan

In K #4- how did you end up with the skinnier stripes in the middle?

I will go back and watch it again.  Thanks

Hi  Is there any way to go from tabby (1,3. 2,4) to twill or vice versa without exposing warp threads?  I’ve tried every combination that I can think of without any luck

                  thanks. joan

Would it be ok to substitute 9/12 seine twine for the 4/12 linen?

You can use the cardboard from paper towels or wraping paper.  Slit the tube and it covers the knots and Texsolv beautifully

I recently learned that you can mark your warping mill to indicate the various yardages and then you do not need a guide string.  I’ve tried it (using masking tape) and it is so much easier especially when you take the warp off of the mill.

Hi- Do you thread the 2 supplementary threads in the reed by themselves or do they share a reed with the 16/2 threads?   Also, I have not been able to print the colored pages which show the various weaving techniques- I have not had any difficulty printing any other of your PDF’s

                          Thanks,  Joan

I am about to wind a warp using Colcolastic thread.  Would you advise using a strip of the elastic thread- say 1″ wide, or would you intersperse this with another fiber?  Cotton? Silk? Linen? cotton- boucle?  D/t skin sensitivity, I do not weave with wool or mohair fibers

                            thanks joan

I just wound a warp with 372 threads of 8/2 cotton on my warping mill.  I am planning for my warp to be 37″ on the loom and just realized that I should have wound it in 2 sections d/t the width- any suggestions?

It’s me again, Do you think that this is because I had the cross on the bottom, rather than the top?

Thank you. I did thread from right to left and was aware of the floating selvedge, but my threading was opposite of the one Jane did. In other words, My first grouping was advancing threading and my last one was M’s and W’s. Since I don’t know how I reversed it,  I am bound to do this again and in some weaving pieces, it might really make a big difference.
