Judy, I love the colours and patterns that you chose!  I haven’t decided if I will change my zinger colour yet.  I have some boucle being shipped.  If I can be patient enough to wait for it, I will change the sett and then maybe try the zinger change at the end.

Thanks for your reply Sandra.  I will look back at that episode and then look up how to fix the skips.  I am really having fun with this and may even attempt changing the sett!

I also love how everyone’s topics are organized here.  It’s so easy to find answers to questions.  I hope that everyone will continue to use this group as well.  Thanks.

I am fine if a Facebook group is started, but I personally choose not to use Facebook.  I like this forum and ravelry and hope they continue to be used.

I really enjoyed this episode and look forward to weaving some of the samples this year.  I am an absolute beginner.  Last year my goal was to buy a used floor loom and weave something.  I bought an old Fanny that needed a lot of sanding and cleaning and some new parts.  I managed to clean it up, figure out how it works and weave a couple of rugs.  Jane’s episodes were so helpful in figuring it all out.  I love that there is a Fanny in many of the episodes….  I am rewatching some of them in preparation for this year.  This year my goal is to weave tea towels.  I am going to order the sample kits and weave most of my samples as tea towels.  I don’t know if I will want to use them for dishes….we’ll see.  I may not do all of the retreading for the samples, but will get whatever I feel comfortable with out of each episode.  If I have time (between kids, knitting, sewing etc), I might even attempt a wool blanket.  Something else I love about Jane’s teaching is that she doesn’t make me feel that I need to buy everything, but makes use of things that she already has.  Anyway, looking forward to a fun year!

I was wondering if I used Harrisville Shetland for warp and mohair for weft in plainweave in an 8 dent reed, if it would be fulled and brushed in the same way as an all mohair blanket?

Also, for those of us with a front load washer, will fulling in the sink still work?

                  Thanks again,

                  Carrie

                    Hi Jane,

I only have a 12 and an 8 dent reed.  Do you think that an 8 dent reed would be too hard on the mohair?

                    Thanks,

                    Carrie

These are my projects…..the loom is a 1950s 45” LeClerc Fanny Loom and bench that I spent the summer sanding down and cleaning and replacing a few things.  It was very dirty and in rough shape when I bought it.  My first weaving projects are these 2 rugs – one done with wool yarn and the other with strips of polar fleece.  I wove once on a small table loom many years ago, so this was all a learning process.  The guild episodes really helped me get started.  My biggest obstacle was getting enough shed.  I adjusted the height of my shafts and followed Jane’s tips and  am pretty happy with the results.  I would like to try tea towels next…..
