      Hi Carol,

More colour options for blankies are now up on the site.  THanks for your patience.

      Cheers,

      Jane

        Hi Carrie,

The 12 will destroy the mohair.  I knew my sett was best at 6 and I knew I wanted to weave a lot of mohair blankies to I invested in the 6 right away.  Why don’t you try a small project like a scarf on the 8 and see what happens, or a small sample.

If you think you will be weaving other highly textured yarns or perhaps rugs you might like to invest in a 6.  It is nice to have a more open reed 🙂

        Hope this helps,

        Jane

Ah Daniel, you will still be able to weave beautiful cloth on your loom 🙂

Maybe someday a counter-marche will cross your path and you’ll be able to add a 2nd loom to your herd.  It is funny how looms seem to accumulate 🙂

            Hi Ed,

If you go to the Helpline on the website and look at the Spring Loom section you’ll find your solution.  I would provide a link but there is so much in there about the Spring you might find other things handy too 🙂

            Easy Peasy fix.

            Cheers,

            Jane

              Hi Kids,

We will get this done on Tuesday…..just finished our last workshop of the year.  Next week. I promise before the sale is over 🙂

                Hi Carol,

45” in the reed is correct.  Finer dented reeds strip the mohair, they abraid it too much and your mohair ends up on the floor and not in the blankie.  I would not use the 10 and definitely not the 12 that leaves you with the 4 so I would use that 2 per dent leaving the 4th dent empty.  This will also give you a little reed patterning in the warp which could be quite beautiful.  Ideally if you want to weave a lot of mohair blankies you might want to spring for a 6 dent reed which is what we use.    Why not try a small scarf first to see how this turns out.

                Hope this helps.

                  Hi Janet,

This project looks beautiful.  I would wash this is soapy warm water in the sink with a mild soap.  I try to not really squish my weaving when I’m washing it…just squooshing it up and down and then I rinse the same way and hang and let the piece drip dry.  Then a good press with good steam.  Linen just gets softer and softer the more you wear it.

Let us know how it goes.

                  Cheers,

                  Jane

Hi Ashlee, I have been away for a few days and just saw this.

Generally you can see where they are supposed to be either by colour or thread counting?  Have you figured it out.  If not, I just tie them to the apron rod and carry on as usual.  A few threads may not matter but it really does depend on the warp.

Let us know where you’re at and perhaps I can help further especially if you add a photo of the back of the loom.

                    Cheers,

                    Jane
