Hello! I have a question RE: Sample #2, Colour and Weave Gamp:

Toward the end of the warping sequence, the instructions say to warp “with five ends in your hand”. What is the best way to do this? Do you hold 4 ends each separated by your fingers, with the 5th end doubled-up, or . . .???

        Thanks!

        Ellen

This is a good question – I’d like to know too!

May I ask if the instructions been downloaded or have you received them with a kit as I haven’t seen them online yet?

Instructions with the kit. I’m setting up the warp to be ready for the class.

                Hi Ellen & all,

Here’s a couple pictures from Jane on how to hold 5 threads in your hand while making the warp.  Also, just as a review, Season 1 Episode 1.3, Jane shows how to warp with multiple ends.

I really like warping with multiple threads, so much faster. Other than being sure you are getting the correct pattern repeats as in the colour and weave project, are there times when you would not want to do this? I was thinking perhaps if you were warping with different yarn weights as a possibility but are there any other examples?

My thread was getting tangled in the shoeboxes when I did multiple ends, so I built a little yarn rack.  It’s based on a picture of one made by LeClerc.  I am really happy with it.  The weaving is so much fun so far.  I feel like a magician with all of the patterning.

i have psoriatic arthritis In Both hands which prevents me from closing three fingers on each hand. I struggles yesterday with the four threads. Would a warping paddle work. I am a new weaver so any thoughts would be appreciated.

I’m also curious about how to warp 5 ends.  The pictures Ginette posted seem to indicate that the  last 2 threads are not separated???  Not to worry?

                        thanks

                          Hi Susan,

yes, keep 2 threads together where Jane has them on the picture, you’ll have a better handled on them in that position.

What a beautiful and simple yarn rack!  To save shipping I asked a handyman/builder to make one and and it cost me more than if I had bought one new! And I let it go the yarn kept catching.  I love yours and may consider making a new one! thanks!
