Oh my gosh, thanks for showing how you count the threads on your cross as it kept escaping my brain how you were doing it.

Thank you sooo much for showing this technique as it totally bewildered me. A aha moment for sure.

This is awesome, I think i will put a warp on and practice this over and over. Thank you

I am not sure why it is necessary to count the cross. I count as I am winding and put in a marker every 40 threads. Is this for the same purpose?

You are counting the cross to make sure you have wound the number of ends you need in your warp.  This is so you don’t have to stop and put in a marker thread.  However, like a lot of things in weaving – one way is not right or wrong, it’s just what works for you.  I, for instance am short, and can’t see the top of my mill and the cross – soooo, I use a counting thread.

Is there any danger of the threads all falling off the end of the dowel while you’re counting? I think I’d wrap a rubber band at the end or something to prevent that from happening! But man, what a cool way to count – I’m so glad you included this in your ‘unfinished business’. Thank you!

If you have a lot of ends in your warp, and you are worried about it falling off – peace of mind might be a temporary elastic band 😉

Very cool!  I was fascinated by the rapid counting in earlier videos but couldn’t figure it out. Now I can do it too. Part of the joy of weaving for me is feeling my body get more practiced so movements and tasks are smooth and natural. I can’t wait for this one to become second nature like it obviously is for Charlotte and Jane.
