Thoughts on 4.1.5 – Simple Two Stripe Sample at the Table
I have finally started my sampler scarf after just doodling around on the warp (20 epi on 10 dent reed) and decided to review the last video at the Table. Jane showed using the little post it folded to see how her angle was going in her diagonal. I didn’t think it was so much of a big deal till I figured I might as well check mine. WOW Not good. I am weaving on an Ashford 4 harness table loom (on a stand with no treddles) and I really had no idea about my beating. I didn’t think I was really beating hard but take a look at the side by side image. The dark weft I am barely kissing the weft to the fabric. That is sure an eye opener! I just want to say thanks for this weird tip. Does anyone weave on this loom using the treadle kit? Just curious.
Is it possible to state the on loom length of the beautiful scarf Jane wove? I like the length of the finished piece. Could not seem to find it in specs. It is appreciated. Jeanne
I’d like to ask again if you can give the on loom woven length of the beautiful scarf Jane wove in the simple 2 stripe sample? I know it can be any length but I like the length and wish to adjust my warp accordingly. Thank you.
I really don’t know how long the shawl that Jane wove is, but one that I wove in PW is 78″ not including fringes and finished. So, I would allow for shrinkage and take-up and weave that length.
