Hi Charlene, can you try the steps Alastair has given on the forum when there’s viewing issues? Here’s the link
Let us know if you’ve resolved it or if you’re still having problems.

I think we just have a really slow wi-fi connection – was able to finish watching. LOVE it.

I’m in the UK and have trouble watching all the videos from time to time. They stop and start every few seconds, buffer for minutes at a time and sometimes won’t start up again. I’ve tried all the recommended steps and none worked. Then I noticed that at certain times the videos ran really smoothly with uninterrupted viewing. A few more tests revealed that if I watched during the morning and early afternoon here the videos ran trouble free but as I went into the evening the problems got worse and worse.
We are about 8 hours ahead of you so I think the problem might be that when the North American continent is awake the videos don’t run well here. As long as I watch when North America is asleep there’s not a problem. I suspect server bandwidth may be a problem so from now on I’ll be watching everything while you slumber.

Wow! There’s a lot to think about here. Such great samples to incorporate into my projects…………but…………I have a question. How do you get horizontal stripes to end in the centre and then have only a solid colour in the other half of the scarf? Is it the weave? Is it the number of shafts on the loom, being more than 4? I am intrigued by the demarcation line at the centre of the scarf.

Hi Joy, I teach you how to do this in the 3 sampe called Parrott. It is called clasped weft. Its coming :). It is hard to teach everything in one episode….you would have a very sore bottom.

What yarn was used for the placemats in this video? Fabulous lesson on graphics. Thank you!

Oh my, my note book is bursting with ideas! I am quite taken with the red white and black tea towel at 6.39, with the white squares in it. I see it is twill that changes directions. I expect this is an eight shaft pattern, is it not? I can’t think of how to do it on a 4 shaft. I would even do a plane weave version, if I could achieve the blocks. Thoughts?

Hi Janine, that towel is a Turned Twill pattern done on 8 shafts.

I love the Fibonacci striped waffle weave towel in this episode. I have been looking for a good waffle weave pattern lately, but to no avail. Can you point me in the right direction? I prefer it to be for a 4-shaft loom.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

What are the yarns used in the chenille throw? Chenille in the warp and what for weft?

Hi Dena,
The weft was 30/2 silk. In episode 2.1.5 at the 22:00 mark, Jane talks and describes how she wove that piece.

Hi Emma, whether I’m watching on my computer or another device, I take a screen shot of a sample I’m interested in. I can zoom in more closely afterwards., and have a record of something that caught my eye.

Just love love love all the education I am getting from Jane. Just started in September and am through Season 1 and now going through Season 2. I am finding watching these videos on my iPad seems to be getting more difficult, My internet isn’t the best but I am able to watch Bluprint Vimeo’s or Netflix. Just having issues streaming these and seems to be worse in the evenings. I have cleared cache to no avail. Is there something else I could be doing?

It would be so great if we could download the videos of each episode to watch offline. That way we wouldn’t have streaming issues. Is there a way to possibly do this?
-

Hi Brenda, the videos cannot be downloaded. That said, you have access to each one any time of the day to view several times during your year membership. They won’t go away 🙂 As for streaming issues, have you looked on the JST Forum under FAQs – Housekeeping thread for some tips?

Yes I did thanks Ginette. None of those tips help for this site. It doesn’t really matter which part of the day I try to watch, it just buffers all the time. It’s a little frustrating when it seems other platforms perform great during the day here.

Hi Brenda, I will get our tech guru Alastair to contact you and see if there’s anything else that may work for since none of those suggestions helped, usually clearing the cache, doing a hard refresh and changing browsers helps. Hang in there

WOW!!!! I feel like I just entered a PHD program in weaving. This episode blew my mind. I have been yearning for weaving instruction and have hit the motherlode. Sketching away, questions galore. Thank you to everyone who is helping to make this guild a reality. I have weaved more and am more excited about weaving in the last two months than ever before. Please keep this guild coming.

I sat in front of my computer, mesmerized by all the combinations possible! I have wanted to use the Fibonacci method in planning projects and it’s finally coming together for me; I can’t wait to get started on these samples. I just received the first 3 kits for this season and look forward to getting into them. I first need to organize my notebook/binder so I can make sense of all my notes. Question: I was able to get a good deal on my first floor loom in February 2020; it is a 1990’s HD 4/6 model. My goal is to one day get one with more shafts. Without knowing what is ahead as far as lessons, can I do all them on a 4shaft? Or would it be helpful to think about an 8-shaft or even more? It is a little intimidating to think about using so many, but would like more options than I have. Thank you for an amazing class available online–just wonderful!

You’ll be fine with 4 shafts for a few years – you have a lot of weaving to do before you even need to think about more shafts. This year is Twills on 4, next year it’s Lacey Places… on 4 … in 2021 and Units, Blocks and Profiles …. on 4 … in 2022. No rush, Nancy – enjoy learning all about the wonderful cloth you can weave on 4 shafts!

I know, I’m late to the game. I’ve been a member since season 1 but am just now digging deep into this and I’m learning SO MUCH. Thank you Jane!!
I have a question: I’m working getting a lot of these designs into my graphic notebook but am struggling to figure out what is the warp and what is the overlaid weft color. For example, on Charlotte’s beautiful towel she has the top third in blue all the way across (minus the stripes) and the bottom burgundy. The towel is hemmed so I can’t see the warp ends to see what they were.

Can you give me the time stamp of the towel you are referring to, Tracey?

Hi, loving all these ideas, please could you tell me what yarn Jane used for warp and weft for her scarves please ? It looks very soft 😍

She showed a lot of scarves in this video – it’s hard to give you an answer! Jane loves silk so I’m guessing that she has woven some of them with that. As you move through the years of lessons, you will have an opportunity to use a variety of different yarns – if you choose to weave the samples as she has designed them. That way you’ll become comfortable with the special qualities of each yarn.
