Thanks Jane and everyone who contributed to a fantastic set of workshops for us all. Personally I have learned so much and found inspiration and encouragement throughout the process.
I am currently exploring overshot which has become an exciting journey in ways I would not have found if it hadnt been for the insightful foundations you have given me with the colour and design workshops. Weaving and designing has become less of a torment and more of a playful pleasure.
Hope you all have a great break and look forward to learning more from you all next year.

Hi Jane and Crew! I just want you to know what a significant impact you have had on a relatively new weaver. You’ve given me a strong foundation on which to build. You’ve helped me to break some early bad habits before they became indelibly ingrained. Most of all you’ve helped me to develop ‘new’ eyes from which to view the world around me and to translate that world into fabric I love. Thank You each and every one of you!!!

2018 has been an outstanding year filled with so many valuable lessons – and an amazing weaving experience. Jane, you and your team never fail to inspire and deliver just exactly what we all need to step up to the loom bench and get started with every project. I have learned so much, and as an Online Guild member who will definitely renew when available in December, the ability to go back to Season One and Two will keep this proudly ‘now past novice’ weaver who is more confident going back over and over to make sure I have it right before forging ahead. HUGELY helpful!
Rock on!

It’s a wonderful thing you are doing here, Jane and Crew! Thank you so much. I’ve been weaving for years, but have learned so much and have had so much fun. Can’t wait for next year! Maybe I’ll catch up by the time you’re back! lol

I just have to tell you how much I LOVE the JST online guild. As a fairly new weaver back when the guild started you really taught me to weave Jane. I often refer to back episodes and hate to wait until the next one is published. Now I have to wait for year 3…. this will be very hard!
Thank you Jane and crew for an amazing experience.

Jane,
Sort of sad that Year 2 is finished. Thoroughly enjoyed it all and have watched and rewatched some episodes. I feel it is an honor to have studied with you, as you are the most Brilliant and Generous Weaver I’ve ever met. -

I subscribed late, but I watched every session with interest and curiosity. Thank you Jane for a very informative few months for me. I learned so much, even though I’ve been weaving for many years. Sometimes we get stuck with what we know and feel comfortable with, but you gave me the freedom to experiment with sett, and colours and fibonacci and my selvedges are no longer an angst.
I made a visit your shop/studio a few weeks ago when I was in Victoria visiting my baby granddaughter, but you were on holiday, much deserved, and I was sorry I missed meeting you. I did stretch my budget and bought mohair for a blanket, and silk and wool for a scarf. I’m excited to start those projects. I’m looking forward to the next season and pushing my boundaries. Thank you to you and your team. You’re all awesome.

I have enjoyed this year and learned so much. I’m a more confident and adventurous weaver because of your lessons and encouragement to play. No weaving police. Test the limits and try new things. Take the scissors to the warp and make it something else. Weaving has become more fun and exciting. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you Jane for another excellent year in the guild! Color was my focus for this year, and how great that was the theme you chose! You’ve given me so very much in the way of stepping out of my comfort zone regarding color and playing with different ideas! Looking forward to year 3! Best, Martha Richter

What a pleasant surprise to see that tea towel I wove about 8 years ago. It was from the first warp I put on the loom on my own after taking a workshop out in Saltspring. This year’s Color and Weave lessons were great. I loved the plaid warp and the wonderful color ideas. So much fun. Thanks Jane and crew. Looking forward to next year.

Thanks, Jane for a wonderful year of Colour and Design. You helped me learn how to colour outside the lines, Your passion is contagious. Each morning I came to the studio, watched the videos and played at the loom. I found the perfect balance between planning and playing. I’m looking forward to continuing the adventures in 2019.

Quote that inspires me from Neil Gaiman:
“If you’re making mistakes, it means you’re out there doing something. And the mistakes in themselves can be useful. . . . And now go, and make interesting mistakes, make amazing mistakes, make glorious and fantastic mistakes. Break rules. Leave the world more interesting for your being here. Make good art.” -

Dear Jane
Thank you so much for your inspiration and dedication over the last two years. It has been fun to experiment and break rules and weave along with you.
Year three sounds like a lot of fun.
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas. Patricia -

Jane,
Just finished the Grand Finale. What a wonderful course! I am going to use my experience to do a show & tell in my home guild (Ann Arbor, MI) and hope to persuade a buddy or two to take next year’s class with me. Need January to prep that so see you in February.
Thank you so much for taking this path.
Happy Holidays! -

Yes, we do learn lots more in the Guild, but the in person workshops are sooo much fun, and sooooo tasty ( thanks Grant). And spending time with you a Jane is priceless.

I want to organize my stash of 8/2 cotton and I thought I’d weigh the cylinders (they really aren’t cones — what do you call them?) to see how many yards I have of each color. The problem is, I don’t have an empty center to weigh so I can subtract that. Would someone who does have one be willing to weigh it for me? Thank you!

Gail, your answer to that question can be found on the Knowledge Base – Need to know how much yarn is left on your cone?

Sandra, thank you so much! This is exactly what I need!

Sandra, I was going through the article and noticed one thing that might be an error. In the first method of figuring, you wind up with 283 grams x 924 yds. = 2614. The problem is that it’s 924 yards for every 100 grams, so you need to divide the final answer by 100. Or else convert 283 grams to 2.83 [units of 100 grams].

Thank you, Gail! I wrote that wee article – the only one in the Knowledge Base not written by Jane and math was/is never my strong point ;-). I used conversion apps but you have to put in the right number first! I’ll get someone who is a number/conversion whiz to check my math.
