I have just finished tying all my threads onto my front apron rod on my Jane. When I wind the threads towards me (at the front of the loom), there is so much tension that all 4 of the shafts that I threaded start to bow at the top. I did remove the lease sticks, thinking that might be the problem, but no….What did I do wrong? And is there a solution? I hope…

I think I may have found the problem. When I open my shed, I see ONE thread floating in the middle. It looks like it is crossing with another thread. I’m not sure what I did wrong or how to fix this.

That’ll do it Susan! How far are you in your weaving, if you’re still working on your header, you can pull out those 2 threads right out of the woven part, fix the twisting they are doing at the heddles, re-tie them with your bundles on the apron rod and that’ll fix it. It won’t fix in the woven part but you shouldn’t have any further problems. If you need to have them in the weaving, you could, thread each thread and weave them into your woven part. I would also take your lease sticks out by the way. Let us know how you make out

I untangled the threads from the heddle, but for some reason the tension is still so strong that I am going to break something if I force the winding. It’s not easy to see from the photo, but the tops of the shafts bow while I tension.

strange, when you’re advancing the warp, are those shafts rising on their own that high? Can you put the toggles that are down, up so all shafts are the same position? Also, your brake release toggle at the back of the loom when you’re trying to advance the warp, is there something keeping it being disengaged? Check your shafts as well, and see if there’s anything keeping them stuck.

Oh dear….I feel so silly. I wound the warp onto the loom backwards. I guess that could be the problem!LOL. I guess that I will just try to advance the warp manually as I weave

I was actually trying to zoom in on your loom to see if that was causing it but it kind of looked like it was wound on correctly, but zooming made it out of focus but it looks like it’s on correctly. When you’re advancing the warp, are you disengaging the brake?
