The silk scarf that is to the right of the chalkboard that has multiple burgundy color stripes on a gauze black ground, can you tell me approximately the sett of the warp. I would guess 120 per inch? Any idea what the gauge of the yarns might be, is it a sewing thread size silk? I think this piece is very beautiful. Thank you
A number of pieces of weaving that Jane has hanging in her studio are from ones she has collected in her travels – particularly to India. I’m not in the studio so can’t count the epi. However, if I wanted to try to replicate it I would find a silk yarn that is very fine, would do the wrapping to get the sett for the yarn that was available to me. I have seen some of those amazing fabrics and sometimes the thread is almost the thickness of hair!
