May I ask advice, input, not to be missed places to visit?  We have a lot of members in the UK and many others who have travelled there as well.  I’m planning a trip to the UK in May and will be exploring Glasgow, the Shetlands, Edinburgh and London.  I’m giving myself permission to have a holiday as immersed as possible in textiles – history, design, all things textiles.  I’m planning to stay in London for a week so I can haunt the V&A.   If any of you can suggest places that I should add to my list of highlights, I’d really appreciate it.  I’m not planning to visit the normal tourist sites other than museums and galleries (I lived in the UK a lifetime ago as a young adult and saw many of the sites then – I don’t think they have changed much since then 😉

Linton Tweeds in Carlisle?  Also Skye Weavers – https://www.skyeweavers.co.uk/

Thank you, Pat!  I wish I were able to get to Skye 🙁  I won’t be driving and will be using buses and trains in Scotland.  I have 4 days in Glasgow and 4 days in Edinburgh bookending a week on the Shetlands.  I looked up Linton Tweeds and that looks like a wonderful place to visit but, again, it looks like a distance by bus from where I’m staying in London.  I’ve already had fun browsing their website and trying to figure out if it would be possible for me to get to either place given my mode of transport – so thank you for your input.

I love visiting the Handweavers Studio – not just to shop but to enjoy the atmosphere and talk to the friendly and passionate staff about all things weaving!

Thanks, Kath!  I’d heard about the Handweavers Studio and wondered if it would be worth going to.  You have just helped me add it to my itinerary for London!  It will get me out of museums for a day and gives me a chance to explore London!
