I wanted a super soft blanket and I’ve been eyeing the Monte Cristo cotton that Jane sells for baby blankets. Nearby in her store was the alpaca. I know that blending plant-based fiber with animal fiber will result in different rates of shrinking. So the whole time I was weaving I felt it was going to be problematic–but the thought of all that softness kept me going. And it worked fine. I just washed it and lay it flat to dry and really no problem. The weave structure was 2/3 twill and I kept it loose. The warp is entirely Monte Cristo.

Did anyone else use another fiber with Monte Cristo? Janet

          Hi Janet,

If you can post pictures, we would love to see it! I have mixed the Monte Cristo with the 3/2 cotton from Jane and that was just beautiful. I used the 3/2 for warp and the Monte Cristo for weft.

Hi Ginette, It took me a while to figure out how to reduce the size of my photos. Here you go. The alpaca is the light brown and the turquoise is a cotton. The Monte Cristo is plain weave and the colors are twill. I’m surprised it held together well, but it doesn’t. Send picture of yours. IMG_6406

That looks so beautiful Janet! I’ll have to look up on my other computer for pictures of mine, trying to remember if I took any!
