        Is there an easy way to find the beginning thread in a silk skein?  I am winding from a swift to a large bobbin and I am not finding the beginning of the skein and I don’t want a mess on my hands!

          Normally, the beginning and the end of the skein are tied together – look carefully for that knot – it should be at one of the ties.

            Thank you Sandra.  I found it and have wound three skeins!  I have had problems with wool coming off the swift very unruly so I was a bit fearful.  The silk wound off smooth as butter!  The electric bobbin winder was one of the best investments I have made!  Thanks again!
