        I am in the middle of planning a Christmas table runner.  To make it a little more festive, I would like to add gold metal thread to the weave.  Has anyone here tried weaving with metallic threads?  If so, do you have any tips for working with metallic thread?  Do you have a favorite thread you can recommend?

          Just for starters – and probably not what you are looking for 😉 but Jane will be covering supplementary warps in Epidode 8 and 9 this year.  I haven’t seen these videos but I have seen some of Jane’s amazing weaving with special yarns used as supplementary warp.  Should be right up your alley, if you want to wait that long.

            i used some sparkly silver thread with a woolen runner and head’s up the shrinkage is different so the metal thread was a bit loose compared to the other warp threads that shrank a bit.

            Other than using poly yarns, i’m not sure how to make the metal warp threads tighter.
