I’m new to weaving textiles (I’ve woven rag rugs for years). Does it work to weave a weft-faced wool rug with a cotton warp? If so, would I use 8/4 cotton warp as I do for rag rugs? I’ve never woven with wool–what weight would I use? is there a brand that Jane carries in her shop that would be recommended? I can look up the sett for a weft-faced rug but appreciate advice for anyone experience with weaving weft-faced wool rugs. Thanks in Advance!

          Hi Kathleen,

Saw your email so I thought I’d answer in one spot 🙂 You might want to jump ahead in the lessons to this lesson as it’ll explain quite a bit about weft faced rugs

          Season 3 – Episode 4 – Weft Faced

A cotton warp will work using 8/4 cotton and as for wool, you might like to look at the Quebecoise that we have at JST and Jane has used in Season 3 Episode 4. Also, you might like to read a bit more on warps for rugs here on the Knowledge Base that Jane wrote about

What kind of warp should I use for a rag rug?
