Question about what weight cotton to buy for weaving cushion/pillow covers. 8/8 cotton for warp and weft, or 8/4 for weft, or do I need to use something even thicker? I will probably use plain weave for the design I am thinking of at the moment. Many thanks.

I have just the answer you want to hear!  It depends 😉. If they are going to be thrown around by boisterous children – they have to be sturdier.  But you could weave cushion covers out of fine yarn like 40/2 linen or 16/2 cotton to sit gracefully in place or medium weight yarn like 8/2 or fine wool.  I don’t think I would use 8/8 because my thoughts are that might be too heavy. There is no limit to the yarn you use depending on the life they are going to live – it’s your choice.

Thanks for the advice. I have a load of 8/2 cotton so think I’ll try with that and see how they look.
