Hi. Which bench do you prefer with your floor loom? I’ve purchased a Louet David 90 and I’m looking at the different seating options out there.  Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

          Hi Sheila

When I bought my Louet Megado loom I bought the weaving bench too. I used it for a few months but found it quite uncomfortable and hard and I kept sliding forward onto the breast beam, despite adjusting the angle of the seat. Eventually I gave up and now use a shaped counter top stool which is perfect. It expect that’s not what you wanted to hear but perhaps yours will suit you better. I’m only 5ft 2inches talk so that’s maybe why the bench didn’t suit me.

Mary, this is so great to know!  Thank you for sharing.   What is the height of your stool?

I bought the Glimakra bench based on someone’s review on Ravelry.  the feet will slide underneath the cross beam so I could sit closer to my Spring.  I’m short.   I jerry rigged it to sit at an angle and tied a piece of yoga mat to the seat for cushion and for grip.  It’s not pretty but it’s working for me.

The stool I have is 75cm high. It’s called a counter stool so lower than a bar stool.

I have good experience with this type of chair, it must be possible to extend the seat to a height of 65 cm. 10040276-1

I’ve used the Louet David Bench for years on my David 90, and I’ve never had a reason to look at anything else.  I’m 5’4 and it certainly has worked for me.

Hello, there! I got my Louet David 90 about a month ago and I’ve been using a dining chair with some extra cushions on it (yikes!)

I have a Glimakra 33″ bench arriving this week to save my upper back and I’ll report back with how it works out!

For context, I’m a 6’4″ man and I needed something that would let me get higher up than the Louet bench would allow.

I’ve had my Louet David 90cm for a couple of years and use a Harrisville Designs small bench. I’m 5’3″ and also used this bench with my prior 36″ Schacht Mighty Wolf. It is an excellent bench, but I did make bench cushion for comfort. The bench is lightweight with wonderful handles that make it easy to move. There is also a little shelf/toolbox under the bench for small item storage. In addition, the bench height is easily adjusted and can be used flat or in a slight “rocking mode.” Here is the link: https://harrisville.com/products/bench-kit-small

Hello again — reporting back in on the Glimakra bench. The 33″ bench fits perfectly with the 90cm David. Played with different heights (it has 5 height options, I think) and found that to be really nice to get the right “fit.” You can tuck it right up against the loom (the feet slide under the treadle beam) and you can also put it inside the loom if you lift the breast beam off and set it inside!

Just my two cents on the bench/loom combo. Hope you find something great for yourself!

Took the pictures in between projects. The first picture is just how it fits tucked into the front.  The second picture shows how I nestle it in to minimize the footprint of the loom in my dining area (gotta love apartment life!)

                                Hope this helps!!

This is the bench I’ve been using at my DAVID. I bought it at Walmart for about $35 in 2018 to use “temporarily” and I’m still using it. My husband made those wooden braces on the feet because you couldn’t really lock the adjusting knob you can barely see a shadow of at the center of the X. This is the Rockville RKB61. I googled the name and the company still sells it and the new model has a completely new locking system which looks good. Check out their video.
Google “folding musicians bench” for other options. The bench does creak as I move, but it’s very kind to the behind 😊

I bought the LeClerc adjustable bench after getting tired of sitting on cushions piled on a dining room chair. The bench can be set from 21″ to 25″ tall. There are three sets of holes drilled to adjust to the various heights. I also have a David 90 and this bench fits nicely under the loom when not in use. I am 5’8″ tall and I have my bench set on the middle setting, which works well and is comfortable.
