        Having just watched the 4.1.5 episode, you talk about 4-harness and 8-harness looms.  Then you show us samples using both the 1/3 and 3/1 tie-ups.  Do I presume  you use the technique of ‘direct tie-up’ to accomplish this?  Perhaps I need to wait until the next lesson to see what you actually do.  Very interesting so far and I love how sensible the draw down is.  It’s always been a mystery to me.

          Hi Joy,

          Yes, I use a direct tie-up if I’m doing it on a 4 shaft loom.  If you’re doing it on an 8 shaft loom, you have more treadles available so you can tie-up the 1/3 and the 3/1….you are still only using 4 shafts.
