What kind of warp should I use for a rag rug?
I am looking for a source for warp for my four foot loom on which I weave rag rugs. You appear to have a good selection of cotton, but as I have only purchased material I could see previously, I am not sure about the weight of the thread. Hope you can help.
Most people use 4/8 cotton for a softer rag rug or #6 seine twine for a very firm rug. You can also use #9 seine twine which is a little finer for warp. I even know a few rag rug weavers who use Linen warp for their rugs. All of them will work with slight differences in how the end rug lies flat on the floor. Hope this helps.
