Ponyo Towels

One of the great things about being a Nana is getting to watch children’s movies again. Freya’s favourite is My Neighbour Totoro. I was searching for it on Netflix and came across another amazingly beautiful film out of the same studio in Japan called Ponyo. From the minute I started watching I was blown away by the colour, the graphics, the movement and story.

We had just finished filming Shadow Weave with Rebecca Logan and the waves in the animation reminded me of one of the threadings from her gamp that was based on the curved threading and we still had her gamp on the loom. It was immediately rethreaded from selvedge to selvedge and Ponyo the towel pattern was born. Ponyo means soft and squishy in Japanese. Seems like it was all meant to come together. I hope you can find a minute to watch Ponyo, it is such a beautiful story.

Ponyo Towels is only available for purchase as a PDF download.
