From Our Inbox

We always look forward to emails showing us what you are creating! This email was no exception and came from Sivia Harding of Oregon. We were thrilled to see what she had woven after waiting patiently for 9 months to be able to weave again! Her generosity with her Collapse Weave scarves was wonderful considering what she had to get through to weave them. ❤️

Hi Jane and crew,

I thought I would send you photos of some collapse weave scarves that just came off the loom recently, my first attempt at this technique. I’m proud to have finished them finally, after waiting nine months for my right foot to heal sufficiently to treadle my loom after an injury and subsequent surgery. The incentive was to produce an item for a charity auction at a fiber event, Red Alder in Tacoma, WA. I’m thrilled with the result and I know I’ll be doing more collapse weave! I love playing at the loom with this structure.

One of the scarves has been donated to the charity auction. I really enjoyed wearing the other two and had lots of comments from people about them! Mostly… “Did you weave that yourself?” I had to hold myself back from telling them how very, very easy these are to weave!!

Best wishes to you all

Sivia Harding

About Sivia’s scarves: The “shrinker” warp stripes were 18/2 Zephyr yarn. The silk warp was old mystery yarn from stash, hand-painted lace-weight silk knitting yarn close to a 20/2 weight. Weft was similar, with the addition of JST’s 2/30 silk.
