Buckens & Owls

Rabbit Holes…..are such wonderful places to fall into 🙂

This project came about because I couldn’t climb out of one. In Season 7 of the School of Weaving I created my first episode on M’s & O’s and loved it. After it aired I was sent a wonderful article written by Harriet Tidball in 1957 that provided an alternative method of drafting it. I took that drafting method and added Colour and Weave sequences to it in Seasons 7 and Season 8 and then started weaving it with Huck tie-ups and Bronson Lace treadling styles.

I want to thank Marilynn Cowgill for sending the article, David Schulz for reminding me about the article and Arlene Kohut for driving me into the Huck and Lace lane on the great highway of M’s & O’s and of course Harriet Tidball for her brilliant draft and Margaret Windeknecht who’s C&W studies have kept me going for years.

From Our Inbox

We’ve received photos of a stunning shawl woven by PK from New Zealand. We love seeing what PK has created and have shared her weaving with you in a previous newsletter. This time PK created a 40/2 linen shawl, using a division of space in 3 with one of the thirds in stripes – Fire Red, English Rose, Denim and Ginger. The warp was a total of 600 ends at 20epi. What a fabulous shawl PK, and thank you for your generosity by being willing to share this spectacular shawl with your JST “family”.
